Also at the 2009 Florida Film FestivalThe Festival kicks off with a food-themed weekend of events and films with special appearances by Food Network star and Master Iron Chef Cat Cora and founding father of New World Cuisine, Norman Van Aken. Special programs including Spotlight Features, International Features, Midnight Features, Music Features, Family Features, and Florida Features showcase a variety of non-competing films that focus on specific styles and subjects. As part of the Festival’s Forbidden Retro Showcase that features older films with a dark edge, actress Glenn Close (Damages, The Shield, Dangerous Liaisons) is scheduled to attend a screening of her 1987 Adrian Lyne film Fatal Attraction. After the screening, Close will discuss stories from her life and career. Other retro films included in the showcase: Crimes of Passion (1984; directed by Ken Russell); La Dolce Vita (1960; directed by Federico Fellini); Midnight Cowboy (1969; directed by John Schlesinger); and in a free screening at Central Park in Winter Park, Florida, Pillow Talk (1959; directed by Michael Gordon).
